Scholarship Opportunities from the Couseling Department

Applications for these community-based scholarships are available on the SPHS email blast, and in the Guidance Office.


The National Charity League, Whittier Chapter, is awarding multiple scholarship awards to12th grade girls who have contributed to their community by volunteering. Extra-curricular activities, honors/awards, financial need, academic achievement and a personal interview will also be taken into consideration in the selection process.

Applicants must be US residents and live in one of the following cities: Whittier, Hacienda Heights, La Habra, La Habra Heights, or La Mirada.  Multiple scholarships will be awarded in an amount of no less than $1,000.  Applications must be postmarked by February 27, 2016.  See tthis link for the application:   (under the "Forms" tab)


The Jeraldine Bates Family Educational Scholarship is established in honor of Jeraldine Bates, a long-time resident of the Pico Rivera community.  She and her husband were inolved in the incoprporation of the City of Pico Rivera. Ms. Bates is remembered for her lifelong commitment to learning and her dedication to teaching.
This scholarship is open to seniors who are residents of Pico Rivera, have a minimum total GPA of 3.5, and have been accepted to at least one four-year college or university. The section process will involve the Pio Pico Woman's Club and is based on merit and need. One or two scholarships in the amount of $5,000 to $10,000 will be awarded.  Applications must be postmarked by April 1, 2016
