Important Scholarship Information for Seniors

Local Scholarship Opportunities for Seniors
Now is a perfect time for Seniors to apply for local scholarships.  Several are featured below.  Criteria and deadlines vary, so review carefully!  It is still possible to obtain necessary transcripts and letter(s) of recommendations for these scholarships, if students begin the process early enough. 
 
Students should contact Mrs. Dickan by email if they are eligible and interested, and she will email them the application and any necessary documents.  adickan@stpaulhs.org  
Because these scholarship opportunities are limited only to local schools/geographical areas, students who qualify have a greatly increased chance of receiving the scholarship if they apply. Don't miss out!!  
 
LUCILLE RADER EDUCATION FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP--Application Deadline: March 26, 2020
The Lucille Rader scholarship program was designed to support girls from Los Angeles Archdiocese Catholic schools who have demonstrated excellence in academics and athletics, as well as good moral character.  To qualify for the scholarship program, applicants must be female, Catholic 12th grade students at Los Angeles Archdiocese schools, and have a minimum unweighted high school GPA of 3.2 (or 3.5 if weighted).  Two scholarships will be awarded, each valued at $40,000, distributed evenly over four years.  Don't miss out!  
 
JERALDINE BATES FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP--Deadline: April 3, 2020
The Jeraldine Bates Scholarship is open to male and female seniors who live in the city of Pico Rivera.  The Jeraldine Bates Family Scholarship offers two $6,000 scholarships to deserving graduating seniors.  To be eligible, the student must be a resident of Pico Rivera, be accepted to a four-year university this fall, have a minimum GPA of 3.5, demonstrate financial need, and demonstrate leadership abilities through participation in athletics, the arts, academic organizations, extracurricular activities and/or community service. IThese scholarships can be renewed for three additional academic years if the student recipients meet academic and involvement standards at the university. The scholarship deadline is April 3rd. 
 
SISTERS' HEART ASSOCIATION FOR RELIEF AND EMPOWERMENT SCHOLARSHIP--Deadline: April 7, 2020
This non-profit organization aims to offer monetary scholarships for young adults with limited financial resources. Two scholarships of $500 each will be given to students to use as they pursue their higher education.  There is no minimum GPA, but the student should have plans fto attend a 2-yr or 4-yr college after graduation, and demonstrate drive and passion for their education.  
 
 
CARING FOR OTHERS SCHOLARSHIP--Application Deadline: April 10, 2020
Sponsored by: Risher Mortuary And Cremation Service
This $500 award will be given to a graduating senior who best demonstrates through a 1-2 page essay, how they are going to use their next level of education.
 
ROSE HILLS "HONORING OUR NATION'S HEROES ESSAY CONTEST"--Deadline: April 24, 2020
 Rose Hills Memorial Park invites you to participate in its "Honoring our Nation's Heroes Essay Contest". Students are asked to respond to a quote on the meaning of Memorial Day.  There will be three contest winners with monetary prizes.  
 
 
LUPE CONTRERAS--Application Deadline: MAY 8, 2020
The Lupe Contreras Memorial Scholarship is open to female, college-bound seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.0, who have demonstrated leadership and commitment to community service. Scholar-athletes and female students who will attend CSUs or community colleges will be given priority.  This scholarship is only open to local high schools, including SPHS.    ($1,500.00 scholarship)
 
WHITTIER HOST LIONS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP--Application Deadline: May 22, 2020
The Whittier Host Lions Club  scholarship is designed to support both graduating males and females who are planning to attend either a 2-yr college or a 4-yr university this fall. A total unweighted GPA of 3.0 is required. Community service, high school involvement, and future academic plans will be considered. Don't miss out!
