HSPT Test Prep

The High School Placement Test (HSPT) Prep Course is a two-day course designed for current eighth grade students who registered to take the HSPT at St. Paul High School on one of the test dates in January.

The HSPT is used as part of the acceptance process but more importantly, it is used by the Admissions Committee for:

  • Class placement for grade 9.
  • Invitation to students into the honors program as a ninth-grade student.
  • School recommendation for students who must attend summer school to strengthen their Math and English skills before the school year begins.
  • Determination of which students will earn the Honors at Entrance Scholarship.  This award is only offered to students who test at St. Paul on one of the three testing dates at St. Paul.  Test results sent from other school will not be considered.

The course will include:

  • Acclimation to the test environment.
  • An introduction and review of the test sections.
  • Review of the basic test subjects.
  • A short sample test.
